Links Web Studio is the trading name of Stuart Mathieson, a sole trader based in Carnoustie, Scotland. I'm responsible for any personal information you share with me (the "data controller"). You can reach me by email at [email protected] or by phone on 07775 106423.

This page explains what happens to your information if you get in touch.

What I collect

When you use the contact form, I collect the name, email address and message you type in, along with the service you select if you choose one. If you email or call me directly instead, I only have whatever you choose to send me.

To help stop spam, the contact form also briefly notes a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address. This can't be traced back to your name or email, and it's automatically deleted after ten minutes.

Why I collect it

Solely to reply to your enquiry and discuss your project. I don't use your details for marketing, and I never sell or share them with anyone else.

Where it goes

Form submissions are emailed straight to my inbox via my web host's mail server. I don't store your enquiry in a separate database - once it's in my inbox, it's kept the same way as any other email, and deleted when I no longer need it.

Cookies and tracking

This site doesn't use cookies, analytics or any third-party tracking scripts. Nothing about your visit is recorded unless you choose to submit the contact form.

If you become a client

If you go ahead with a project or plan, I also keep your name, business name and contact details, our emails and project files, your invoices and payment records, and any logins you give me for your website, domain or hosting.

I use these to carry out our agreement, invoice you and keep proper business records. Under UK GDPR, I rely on the information being needed for our contract and, for financial records, on the legal requirement to keep them.

I only share them where I need to: with my accountant and HMRC for tax purposes, my bank, and the hosting and email providers I use to run my services. Logins are kept in an encrypted password manager and deleted or handed back when our work together ends.

Invoices and payment records are kept for as long as HMRC requires (currently at least five years after the relevant tax return deadline). Other project records are kept for five years after our work ends, in case of questions or claims, and then deleted.

If your website collects information about your own customers, for example through a contact form or online shop, I look after it on your behalf under the Data Processing Terms in Schedule 2 of my Terms of Business. You decide how it's used.

Your rights

You can ask me at any time what information I hold about you, or ask me to delete it - just get in touch using the details below. As a UK sole trader, I handle any request in line with UK GDPR.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
